Plumeria Leaf

A free crochet pattern for a plumeria leaf to go along with your plumeria flower. Sewn together, they make a perfect "doily" for a candle.

Using fingering weight cotton yarn and a 2mm hook, the leaf measures 11 inches long (including stem) and 4 inches wide.


 

 

Special Stitches:

  • Odd Increase (Odd Inc) = When there are three stitches to increase over, then [dc, 2 dc in the middle stitch, dc].

  • Even Increase (Even Inc) = When there are four stitches to increase over, then [dc in the first stitch, dc2tog over the 1st and 2nd stitches, dc in the 2nd stitch].



 

Row 1:  Chain 64. Row 2:  2 dc in the third chain from the hook. [Dc 3, dc2tog, ch] repeat 11 times, dc, hdc 2, sc2tog, sc, sl st 9 to create the stem, ch, turn.

Stem finished, continue to other side of foundation chain.

Row 3:  Sl st 9 along the stem, sc, [ch 4, hdc in the second stitch of the dc2tog] repeat 11 times, ch 4, sc in the same ch st as the dc-2 cluster, ch 2, sl st in the closest dc, turn.

Row 4:  Ch, (dc, ch, 2 dc) in the sc, ch. Working in the ch-4/hdc row in the front loops only: [dc 3, dc2tog, ch, skip the next hdc] repeat 11 times, dc, hdc 2, sc2tog, sl st in both loops of the next stitch, ch, turn.

Row 5:  Skip the first sl st. Sl st 2, sc, hdc, ch, skip the ch-space, [dc 4, ch, skip the next ch-space] repeat 11 times, dc, 2 dc in the next stitch, [dc, ch, dc] in the ch-2 space, dc2tog between the two ch-2 spaces, [dc, ch, dc] in the next ch-2 space, 2 dc in the next st, dc, ch, [dc 4, ch, skip the next ch-space] repeat 10 times, dc, hdc, sc, sl st 2 (ending in the ch-space), ch, turn.

Dc2tog between the two ch-2 spaces.

Row 6:  Skip the first sl st. Sl st 2, sc, hdc, ch, skip the ch-space, [dc 4, ch, skip the next ch-space] repeat 8 times, [dc, Even Inc, dc, ch, skip the ch-space] repeat 3 times, dc, 2 dc in the next stitch, dc, ch, skip the next ch-space, [dc, Even Inc, dc, ch, skip the ch-space] repeat 3 times, [dc 4, ch, skip the next ch-space] repeat 7 times, dc, hdc, sc, sl st 2 (ending in the ch-space), ch, turn.

Row 7:  Skip the first sl st. Sl st 2, sc, hdc, ch, skip the ch-space, [dc 4, ch, skip the next ch-space] repeat 5 times, [dc, Even Inc, dc, ch, skip the ch-space] twice, [dc 5, ch, skip next ch-space] twice, [dc, Odd Inc, dc ch, skip the ch-space], [dc, Even Inc, dc, ch, skip the ch-space], [dc, Odd Inc, dc, ch, skip the ch-space], [dc 5, ch, skip next ch-space] twice, [dc, Even Inc, dc, ch, skip the ch-space] twice, [dc 4, ch, skip the next ch-space] repeat 4 times, dc, hdc, sc, sl st 2 (ending in the ch-space), ch, turn.

Sl st 2, sc, hdc, ch, skip the ch-space, [dc 4, ch, skip the next ch-space] twice, [dc 3, 2 dc in the next stitch, ch, skip next ch-space], [dc 4, 2 dc in the next st, ch, skip next ch-space] repeat 3 times, [dc 5, 2 dc in the next st, ch, skip next ch-space], dc 7, ch, skip next ch-space, 2 dc, dc 4, 2 dc in the next st, ch, skip next ch-space, dc 7, ch, skip next ch-space, [dc 5, 2 dc in the next st, ch, skip next ch-space], [2 dc in the next st, dc 4, ch, skip next ch-space] repeat 3 times, [dc 4, ch, skip the next ch-space], dc, hdc, sc, sl st 2 (ending in the ch-space), ch, turn.

Row 10:  Skip the first sl st. Sl st 2, sc in each dc and ch-space around, [9 sl st, ch, 9 sl st] around the stem, continue to sc around to the first sc. Sl st in the first sc. Tie off. Weave ends in.
