Sea Life Jellies

Difficulty: Intermediate ✦✦✦✧✧

Here is a free mini jellies (jellyfish) amigurumi crochet pattern as part of my Sea Life Mobile project.

With a baby on the way, I am excited to make him all the things. One of the first things I set out to make was a mobile for over his crib and changing table. Here is the fifth animal for my sea life baby mobile: a pair of jellyfish!

The jellies are designed to be anatomically correct with an outer body with legs and an inner gut with feeding tentacles.

The little jellies are made in 2 parts: the body and the tentacles.

They are stitched in Knit Picks Mighty Stitch in Wisteria and Sky, with a 4mm hook. Gauge is not important. A larger hook and thicker yarn will result in a larger amigurumi.

The jelly's body is 3 inches long and 2 inches in diameter.

Body:

Row 1:  6 sc in a magic ring.

Row 2:  2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)

Row 3:  [sc, 2 sc in next st] repeat 6 times. (18 sts)

Row 4:  [sc 2, 2 sc in next st] repeat 6 times. (24 sts)

Row 5:  sc in each st around (24 sts)

Row 6:  sc in each st around (24 sts)

Row 7a:  In the back loops only: [sl st, ch 7, skip 1 ch, sl st 6 back along the ch, sl st] repeat 12 times.

Row 7b:  In the front loops of the same row: [sc, sc2tog] repeat 8 times.

     Tie off.

Tentacles:

Row 1:  Flip the jelly inside out. Join yarn to the 2nd round and sc around (see below). (12 sts)

Row 2:  sc in each st around. (12 sts)

Row 3:  sc2tog 6 times. (6 sts)

     Stuff lightly.

Row 4:  [sc2tog, ch 16, skip 1 ch, sl st 15 back down the chain] repeat 3 times (see last image above).

     Tie off.

Flip jelly right side out.
